Course Description
This is a new group which will start this year as a subsidary group of the main Vocal 31 pop/rock choir. It is a smaller advanced close harmony group for those singers who wish to tackle some more challenging arrangement. The ensemble will meet fortnightly to rehearse small ensemble arrangements, not only in the pop/rock genre but also musical theatre and jazz.
Participation in this ensemble is open to all, but members are expected to learn their notes at home before coming to rehearsal and music reading is a required skill. This is not a taught course but rather a collaborative ensemble where the musical director, Eve Hirsch, also sings with the group. As such there is no participation fee, only a fee to cover material costs, with a discount for enrolled members of the Vocal 31 Pop/Rock choir.
In addition to singing alongside Vocal 31 in concerts, we plan to arrange some independant smaller venue events for this group and aim to build up a repertoire over time.

ACTIVITY LEADER
Jim has been a passionate member of Vocal 31 since its early days. An enthusiastic amateur, he loves singing, acting, playing guitar, and the thrill of live performance—especially the harmony of voices coming together.
Equally at home singing bass or tenor, Jim has performed in classical choirs, madrigals, barbershop groups. He has played in various bands and duos and appeared on stage with the Secret Pantomime Society.
By day, Jim is a maths teacher at the International School of Toulouse, where he additionally supports concerts and school productions. He’s committed to creating community events that bring people together and encourage creative development and performance.
For Jim, Thursday night Vocal 31 rehearsals are a weekly highlight—for both the music and the community.
